Book Giveaway, Fun Trips, and Book Recs!
Atomic Habits Hardcover Giveaway, Spontaneous Trips, Health Mishaps & Book Recs!
Hi all,
It’s been an up and down month of May. My poor husband, Mike, had to have immediate surgery for a detached retina—and let me tell you that this is NOT a fun recovery. It’s painful and long. Three weeks in and he’s still in pain and wearing an eye patch. He can’t lift anything heavy or drive for eight weeks! This has changed our household dynamic. And boy, am I appreciating all the things he normally does as I’m now doing many of his tasks, including helping with his business. We did get him out for a nice dinner though!
And here comes the hubby promo … Mike sells artisanal fudge at festivals on the weekends, but you can also order online! It’s truly the best fudge ever. Visit Your Chocolate Guys at his website! And we’re both so grateful that our son, Joshua, moved home from Hawaii last year as he is now managing my husband’s weekend shows until he’s fully recovered.
The past month has had some fun moments, too. I was interviewed as a guest on two self-help podcasts that will air soon and I’ll share then! I’m creating a new children’s book story idea that is driving my fantastical imagination. I also took a spontaneous trip to Asheville, North Carolina, with my son, Joshua, to help him buy his dream car—a 1991 Mazda Miata convertible.
We stayed in Asheville for three days and zipped around the Biltmore Estate in Asheville in that cute car with the top down, spring blooming all around. Then I drove behind him the entire 11-hour drive home as he is new to driving a standard shift car! Luckily, we made it home and my “mom anxiety” level shot down. LOL.

My dad loved vintage cars. He had a 1965 MGB red convertible we’d cruise down country roads in. I love to think of my dad sitting beside my son cruising the back roads with a big grin on his face in Joshua’s convertible now.

What am I reading this month? A book that is redefining for me how to look at how our past can remain hidden inside us through trapped emotion affecting what we do without us even realizing it.
The Emotion Code: How to Release Your Trapped Emotions for Abundant Health, Love, and Happiness by Dr. Bradley Nelson
In The Emotion Code, holistic physician and lecturer Dr. Bradley Nelson skillfully lays bare the inner workings of the subconscious mind. He reveals how emotionally-charged events from your past can still be haunting you in the form of "trapped emotions"―emotional energies that literally inhabit your body. These trapped emotions can fester in your life and body, creating pain, malfunction, and eventual disease. The Emotion Code is a powerful and simple way to rid yourself of this unseen baggage. Dr. Nelson’s method gives you the tools to identify and release the trapped emotions in your life, eliminating your “emotional baggage,” and opening your heart and body to the positive energies of the world.
I hope your May is filled with positive energy and wonders in nature—like these woodland creatures I caught on camera!
